Maybe I will. Go hunt down my aunt. Lol. Crochet is the one with the single needle-type thing, yes?

it uses a crochet hook, it's pretty easy. i've been doing it for monthes now. I had a woman in the knitting circle I joined, cause i'm the only crochet member, she asks 'since your the only crocheter who do you ask?' I'm like I don't I just figure it out. it is alot simpler to make something with crochet than knitting but it also depends on how well the pattern is written too.

I didn't see the part about the book. I may have to take you up on that. Knitting circles sound like fun... Do you get poked fun at because you are the only crochet member? Haha

lorifiya, they are probably thrilled to see someone young doing the yarn arts. the old homemaking skills (like sewing, knitting, food preservation etc) are being lost and I've found that when I ask someone older for advice about such things, they are thrilled to see the interest.
I've crocheted since I was 14 (that would be 31 yrs ago) and only just this past year learned to knit.
In general: crochet is easier to learn, faster to do, tends to use more yarn, and the "fabric" that crochet makes tends to be bulkier. Knit is harder (for many) to learn, slower to do and uses less yarn, while the "fabric" that knitting makes tends to be less bulky.
Before I learned to knit with knitting needles, I tried knitting looms. I *love* knitting looms. But the round knitting looms have limited usefulness. However it's like mixing the best of both... they are much faster than needle knitting, make a lighter weight "fabric" like knitting and use less yarn than crochet might with a similar project. But, you can't make as many things as easily with the looms.

yeah, the circle started so as to teach kids, but was open to everyone, so when more older knitters showed up the kids got intimidated.
It is sad more young people aren't into making stuff themselves, I have actually met a couple people that cannot cook on a stove or oven they only know how to use the microwave. its very depressing.

If you enjoy crochet I have a crochet pattern to make runes. Lorifiya, I would love to see this pattern! I think that would be right up my alley. I've been crocheting for as long as I can remember. Right now I'm in the process of making a peasant skirt. Can you send me that rune pattern?

I've recently started learning Tarot, and it's a lot easier for me than runes. Runes are something I use when spellcasting; if the spell calls for a focal object or symbol, I will use a rune pertaining to the spell.

Everyone has their own form of divination that works best for them. Where one person may like runes, another uses tarot. Or one person may pick up on palmistry or astrology easily, another person uses scrying. Runes are definitely good to use for spells.
