PectiWita (or Pecti Wita/Pecti-Wita/Pecti Witta) claims to be an ancient magickal practice of Scotland by the Ancient Picts. It differentiates from other Celtic practices in that it is purely solitary. Unlike Wicca, practitioners of PectiWita do not feel the need to hold formal meetings or even to worship every Sabbat or Esbat. In fact, practitioners to not differentiate between daily life and practicing magick. Rather than waking up one day and saying "today, I'm going to practice some magick or do a ritual", they find sacred practices in everything that they do. For instance, preparing a meal is considered a sacred act of devotion to the Gods and Nature. The holidays are the same as in Wicca, but not so much emphasis is placed on them other than acknowledgement, since every day is a constant devotion.
Similarly to other practices, PectiWita is nature-based. Everything is considered a part of a whole. Whereas some Wiccan traditions see the Gods and Goddesses as separate from spirits or fairies, PectiWitans believe that everything is connected to everything. In order to follow this path, one must be connected to Nature. Other than to leave a little tribute to the Gods or spirits, it is not really possible to practice indoors. Practitioners of PectiWita strongly use herbs and divination in their practice. They use herbs for everything in both magickal and healing ways. PectiWitans are the solitary medicine people of their clans or tribes. Religion is seen as a very personal thing, thus the reason coven worship is not practiced. The Picts would only get together for group rituals if their was a dire need to do so. This is still practiced today.
Tools of PectiWita
Staff: This is basically a combination of how the sword and wand are used in Wicca. It is the primary tool of practice, even though there is no such need to cast circles in Pecti-Witta.
Dirk: Similar to the athame, this is used to channel energy.
Keek Stane The final main tool. This is a stone used for scrying similar to a crystal ball.
Quaich A cup sometimes used for ritual. Usually a horn or gourde worn on the belt.
Mool An earthenware bowl fill with soil used to represent Earth.
I'll post more information later. Here are some links:
