For those interested in herbalism, Susun Weed, who is famous for her Wise Woman tradition of herbalism, is offering her Nourishing Herbal Infusion course on Wise Woman University for free! Herbal Infusions are one of the basics that her students learn to use and her primary way of teaching about maintaining good health. WWU is a forum and most classes there cost, but this one is currently free. However you do need to go through Susun's website and "purchase" the course even though you will not be asked for any payment info, since it's free. www.herbalmedicinehealing.com/store/item_view.asp?estore_itemid=1000456

Ok you two! have you tried out anything from that course?
Susun talks so much about Nettles and how superfantastic it is for you (it's very good for nursing moms too!) that I decided to start with Nettles. I ordered a pound from Mountain Rose herbs first, then another pound from the food coop I'm in since it's a little cheaper there. Anyway, I've been drinking two cups nettle infusion a day starting Sept 1. It's not particularly pleasant tasting so I add a bit of agave syrup to it to take the edge off.
Already I've noticed some pain relief from my "tennis elbow". The few days before sept 1 were the worst pain in this elbow I've had... there's inflammation and possibly a pinched nerve in there. Anyway, the stabbing pains are gone and now there's just some general but not nearly as bad as before pain. I am pretty stoked! plus I've had a little more energy since I started drinking it.
I have Susun Weeds Herbal Wise book and here's a very brief list of things that Nettles are good for. *general tonic, nutritive *powerful enough to heal damaged tissue: kidneys, longs, intestines, arteries *as a diuretic it is good for releasing water retention and is safe to drink during pregnancy, birth and lactation *reduces excessive bleeding - including during monthly moon cycles improves hair and skin *restores adrenals - adrenals control your general energy levels. people drink caffeine thinking it will give them energy but in fact it damages adrenal gland function. long use of caffeine will screw up your adrenals. *nettles are high in calcium, vitamins and trace minerals *it is good for respiratory strengthening - asthma, and respiratory illness, allergies *supports the metabolism - nourishes the thyroid for balance and "wakes up" the body's metabolism to balance out blood sugar levels and reduce excess weight *supports the immune system

Mountainroseherbs.com is where I order online. very reasonable prices.
You can buy herbs in bulk through Greatest Grains and possibly Heritage Foods in IL, but they may be more expensive and there may be a waiting period if they have to have it shipped.

Is there a place in the QC area that you can go and physically buy herbs without having to order them online? I'm still with my parents, and it would be a little difficult explaining the arrival of herbs in the mail
