No, in Wicca any deities that your feel comfortable with can be used. I am not Wiccan, but most of the ones I do know tend to use Celtic deities or Greek. Although I know a few that have German and Hindu deities as part of their practice.

Lol it's ok Glen. I just like to answer questions that people have, so it's a little hard for me to keep my mouth shut when someone asks.

I know I'm late coming to this thread. The coven I was in was primarily celtic oriented, though it was specifically dedicated to a local god/goddess they had divined when they formed the coven. But each member of the coven could choose (or be chosen by) any pantheon or diety at all. I am most comfortable relating to gods and goddesses from ancient egypt myself. However, I have no interest in practicing a reconstructionist version of the ancient egyptian religion, I would love to sit down some day with an acquaintance of mine who is an egyptian reconstructionist, to just talk shop and learn some stuff from her. Go in the direction you are drawn. If you aren't drawn any particular direction yet, take your time, explore the different pantheons, read up on them. Read the myths and legends. Look for those that can help you find balance in your life.

I've got another question. Are there people who use more than one pantheon? I'm very curious about that... I haven't really found a pantheon yet, but there's so many. Does anyone?

There's nothing wrong with mixing pantheons, IMHO. WE do not choose the deities. THEY choose us.

something to consider: we do not "use" a deity or pantheon. We might be drawn to, led to, invite one or many...
yeah... I would never be willing to say "I used Sekhmet yesterday for a ritual." She'd kick my a$$ for the effrontery.

Ooh, thank you for catching that. I totally didn't even look at it that way. Very good point indeed.
