I don't know how many people here dance... I guess I'm not a trained dancer or anything (although I'd loooove to learn to bellydance), but I do fire performance, which I guess is a type of dancing. I've most definitely fallen out of practice, which is going to change soon, but I think dance, with fire or otherwise, is a really fun hobby. And a wonderful way to worship.
Anyone else into performance? Or just enjoy dancing in general?

several of my friends are very very good fire spinners. I have some practice stuff (I'm not dancing with real fire till I can keep from hitting myself in the head with my poi stuff). I've bellydanced for years and years. Though I don't as much now, after my son was born I gave my teaching business over to my senior students. I love dancing. of any type. Though my body is no longer suited to ballet! lol my next goal is to convince my hubby to learn some ballroom dancing. I *love* watching the tango, and it would so rock to tango with my hubby, if he could just get over his fear of dancing. I love dancing at pagan fests too, to drum circles. It's very free form and primal, and I love that.

Habibidancer, you've got it! XD I have a friend who does poi, and her Aunt Margaret (I think that's her name..) does as well. So that's kind of cool. I'd definitely like to get better. (Fans are east to not burn yourself with, as long as you're not trying something too insanely technical. I did burn my arm hair once, though...)
Also, another friend is offering me bellydancing lessons, which I'm definitely going to take! It'd be amazing to dance at festivals someday. Drums just make me a happy girl!

I absolutely LOVE dancing! I used to take bellydancing classes and I really want to get back into it soon. I even have a costume! I definitely think working with fire counts as "dancing". I've known a few fire performers and even learned a few tricks. I've participated in drum circles and Pagan festivals and doing the Spiral Dance is a lot of fun!

Strawberry, the Spiral Dance starts off with everyone in a huge circle holding hands. Then they all start moving clockwise with either singing or chanting (we would do chants). The leader then breaks off one hand and starts bringing the group in to form a spiral while getting closer and closer to the middle. Eventually, he or she goes under the link of two people to bring the group back out of the spiral into a circle. It's really a lot of fun! The chant we used to do was "Our hands will work for healing and harmony, our hearts will beat to Her rhythm of life. Our feet will walk through Her endless cycles. Let us dance and bless our land!" The energy of a Spiral Dance is just incomparable.

I used to do ballet when I was four, and then, as four-year-olds do, I got bored and I quit. I began to regret it a couple years ago, so I signed up for some pointe lessons. It turns out ballet's just not my forte It may have been if I had stuck with it, but I guess I have to face the fact that I didn't. Other than that the only dancing I do is when I'm home alone to some very loud music

I agree, Lorifiya! If anyone here has seen Black Swan yet, I highly recommend it. It was really freaky, but it did nice portrayals of how ballet dancers go through so much just to be the best. Natalie Portman has to tape her toes together to fit into the ballet shoes and at one point while she's practicing in her apartment she hurts her toe really bad.

^ Black Swan is one of my favorite movies. I'm very interested in psychology, and it's very psychologically and symbollically oriented as well.

I really like Black Swan.
Actually, my best friend's twin sister is a very devoted dancer, and her feet are really brutal from all the point she does. It's really beautiful, though.
I really like modern dance as well.

I just saw Black Swan for the first time a couple days ago. I love her spiral into insanity.
