If he is interested in 3rd shift, he'll get better training from my husband than he would from 2nd shift! but don't let Per Mar know I said that. hahahah! I hear stories though. If his background check pans out, he'll get called I'm almost sure. They are SOOO short on people right now! My hubby goes in for overtime at least 3 times a week to cover the short staff. Usually more than that if you count him going in on his days off too. So methinks your hubby is likely to get called.

Good! We said 2nd shift because it's pretty much what he works right now and the baby and I are so used to it. He doesn't have anything on his background other than paid traffic tickets that happened years ago. So I'm really hoping he does get called. It would be so much better than what he has right now. They explained the dispatcher position and even though he doesn't like working in a call center, he feels that the one at Per Mar would actually make him feel useful. Right now his calls are "*Sigh* I haven't been using my radio for 3 months and I want a refund for the months that I wasted not canceling sooner" or "Some foreign person didn't cancel my subscription when I wanted them to the other day and I want 3 months free". Just stuff like that and he's sick of the lies APAC keeps giving him. His team lead said that if he reached a certain sales percentage, she would make sure that he received his bonus for September. Then we find out that he still didn't get it and there's nothing she can do because she really doesn't have any power there. Before that, he had asked to transfer from saves/sales to maintenance and that's when she told him to just wait it out and she would make sure he got his September bonus. Never happened and he's still stuck in saves/sales.

wow. Apac sucks. He'll probably get 2nd shift, which means my hubby would not train him, he'd probably get trained by someone else. Which is too bad... one of the reasons 2nd shift is so low on people is because their previous trainer (who stopped being trainer) was so crappy that all the trainees either quit or were fired because they weren't doing the job right. I have no idea who's training on 2nd now... Seriously, 2nd shift is down to like 2 people... there are a few still working it that have gotten transfers to other shifts or departments but they can't go yet because there isn't enough people working that shift yet. They are desperate for more staff so I'd truly be surprised if he didn't get it. James (my hubs) has come home from work 3 times this week and said "another 2nd shifter gone". He said now they are going to make 1st and 3rd shifters work modified shifts to cover the lack on 2nd. James likes being dispatcher. He loves the security field anyway and he likes the company (it's family owned rather than a big corporation). He just doesn't like a few people who don't have a good work ethic. your hubs will get his share of dummies and moocher callers but most people are decent. 3rd shift gets more angry people because who wants to be called at 3am to be told their store alarm went off? But 2nd shifters don't have to wake many people up so it'll be easier there. I'm excited for you guys! I sure hope it works out!

Thanks! If James is going to be at your house tomorrow, I'm sure Tony would like to ask him some questions. I do hope he gets this job. He's so used to taking bullsh*t from his workplaces (he also used to work at Qdoba) that I know he won't have a problem with authority figures there. He just wants a job that he can make a comfortable paycheck with and actually feel useful. Only a few people he went through APAC training with are still there (out of 20 originally), so I know he won't quit if he gets on 2nd shift.

James works sunday nights but if you guys hang out long enough, I'll ask him if he'll get up a little earlier to talk with Tony. I mentioned to him that your hubs had applied and he was interested to hear it, so he'd probably want to chat anyway. Besides, I suspect that James and Tony might hit it off anyway. don't you guys game (like, D&D?). James is an old-school gamer but most of his gaming buddies have moved away or game on nights James can't. anyway, I'm always on the lookout for people we can hang out with now and then, and I know James would love to have another "geek" working at permar. (I say geek in the most loving of terms. I married him cuz he's a geek )

Tee hee hee! I married my hubby because he's a geek, too. Yes, we both game. Tony's been trying to get me to play D&D and Magic the Gathering. His friends have either moved away, got married, or no longer interested in playing. We've tried to get a new group together, but it didn't work out. So I'm sure Tony would love to have another guy to hang out with. He's always complaining about not having guys to hang out with. We'll see you guys tonight!

Habibidancer, I wanted to let you know that my husband got the job at Per Mar! He was just offered the position today. He'll be starting in 2 weeks, unless APAC wants him gone sooner. So yay!

Thanks! Tomorrow is his last day at APAC and then he starts at Per Mar on Tuesday. It'll be nice for him to have 2 days off a week together at 8-hour days than the 10-hour days he works now with 3 days off scattered across the week. Right now I feel like I hardly ever see him because he's always so tired. It really makes a difference.

so what did his schedule end up being? I'll be able to tell if your hubby and mine have overlap somewhere. is he training on 1st shift? James told me they are training some of the new people on 1st and then moving them to their permanent shift when they've gotten some training.
I'm glad he got the job, that's great. I hope he likes it there. like most jobs, it has it's stress and junk, but James likes it there well enough.

His schedule is Tuesday through Saturday from 2:30pm to 10:30pm. From what I know, he's going to have the same schedule through his training. So he has Sundays and Mondays off.
